COMMENT Steep incline in places

From Key House turn right and follow road into Falkland Estate (do not take turning into Craigmead).

Beyond duckpond (on left) the road forks - keep going straight with the school/mansion on the left.

Just past it there is a T-junction with a road to the left. Take it and follow to the end, past farm building on right.

At road end, take track almost straight ahead, through gate marked "private". Keep on this track for 15 minutes or so as it winds up through forest.

Close to your turning, the track flattens slightly and then inclines quite steeply.

At the top of incline, take right turn into wide track winding through trees. After five minutes or so a track to your right leads to the monument. You will see it as you make the turning.

Either return the way you came, or scramble down the slope to a forest track which eventually connects with the beech hedge walk. This brings you out at the T-junction, and thence back towards Falkland.
